This weekend we decided to get out and actually do something. We set out Saturday morning for Springfield, MO. The "big" Bass Pro Shop is located there. We thought it would be fun to get the boys out and let them see the big fish tanks and all the animals. Basically - just doing something other than sit around the house. As the boys are not walking yet, it really makes finding activities they can do difficult. So, we strapped them in and headed north.
Nate doesn't enjoy riding in the car. I think he gets bored. He fussed for the majority of the drive to Springfield. He finally fell asleep about 20 minutes to our final destination. So, we had to wake him up to go inside. He usually wakes up pretty happy so this wasn't that big of a deal.
Eli is a trooper. He fell asleep pretty quickly and slept the majority of the way. While awake he was happy as long as we kept feeding him WHALES (cheap version of goldfish) or little butter cookies. That kid can eat more than any kid I've ever seen.
When we got to Bass Pro - it was PACKED! MISERABLY PACKED! Andy dropped us off and went to find a spot. Joyce and I took the boys in and let them ride in the carts. They love riding in the carts. They weren't really into looking at the big tanks or animals - but they love to people watch and to show off.
After Bass Pro - we headed back south to Ozark, AR to eat at Lambert's - better known as "HOME OF THE THROWED ROLLS!". It was about a 45 minute wait - it was tough keeping the boys entertained without letting them crawl around (dangit I cant wait til they can walk). The food was well worth the wait. I think I ate 3 rolls! YUM! My fave was the fried potatoes that they "pass around". The boys enjoyed the rolls, carrots, and candied yams.
On the way home - NATE SLEPT! He was pooped from not getting a good nap in on the way up there. Eli though was not his normal self. He hated the whole ride home - again the only thing making him happy was handing him food and giving him juice - oh great, I'm going to have obese children!
We made it home about 8:30pm - the boys went to bed about 9:30.
All in all, it was a great trip - and sure beat sitting inside all day.
